Question

I have been asked to submit this question by a constituent of mine.

How can the mayor sit back and let millions of pounds of tax payer money go to waste. Even if they get planning permission it will waste another 20 million of tax payers' money.

English heritage has recently regarded the site as an "Historical asset in totality " of east London, so how does the mayor allow a part funded rsl to land bank, as the current owners have for three years, while there is a private buyer who wishes to purchase the site and create over 1000 jobs & investment to London . The mayor can act now it is an historical site

GLA officers are currently involved in pre-planning application meetings with London & Quadrant regarding its proposals. Until a planning application is submitted to the Council, and subsequently referred to me, I cannot intervene or comment on the scheme, as to do so would fetter my future decision making powers.

GLA officers are aware of the recent response by English Heritage and, along with all representations, will take that into account in assessing the proposals. However, in the first instance, the scheme will be assessed against the strategic policies as set out in the London Plan.
