Will you ask LOCOG to urgently review their plans to prune more than 400 trees, including ancient and veteran trees, to heights of up to 5.2m, with some branches being removed to the stem? This seems excessive, runs contrary to guidelines and could cause long-term damage to highly valuable trees.

LOCOG plans some additional tree works for the test event at Greenwich Park this July, to prevent any long-term damage to trees. These plans have been developed together with The Royal Parks. Only eight trees involve more than minor pruning, with no tree requiring trimming of branches over 150mm in diameter. A further 211 trees will require minor pruning.
