Question

The Audit Commission 2010 report said that a third of forces are already reducing management numbers. Is the Met in this category and what is the ratio of managers (chief superintendents, senior officers etc) to staff in the Metropolitan police?

The MPS is planning a reduction in management numbers as it reviews overall budgets.

At the end of June 2010 the MPS employed 618 officers at superintendent/Band A grade and above, out of a pool of 51,345 police officers, police staff and PCSOs. This equates to a ratio of 1:83.
