At the present time, it is impossible accurately to estimate what savings will arise to the Authority from the abolition of the Audit Commission. The total amount paid to the Commission in 2009/10 was £0.151m. At this stage it is also unclear exactly what external inspection and audit process will replace that presently undertaken by the Commission. However, it is likely that the Commission will not be abolished until 31 December 2012, as they will still be responsible for auditing the 2011/12 accounts.
