Question

Could the Mayor please confirm that the two priority areas in Kingston have not yet received any street trees under the Mayor's Street Trees programme? If so, what is the reason for this and when can we expect to see street trees in these areas?

The Mayor

No applications were made for a street tree grant in the first two rounds of the programme. The Borough now has the option to plant trees in streets adjacent to or contiguous to the 2 priority areas in Kingston and Surbiton South. I am pleased to say through the third grant round an offer has been made to plant 34 trees in the Kingston Priority Area.

My officers will continue to work with Kingston in the run-up to the 4th and final grant round next year to see if we can increase the numbers of street trees that are planted in the borough.
