In 2007/08, Crossrail was managing relationships with organisations and individuals with an interest in the Crossrail Bill and completing consultation processes. Media activity included promoting Crossrail. The cost of these activities in 2007/8 inclusive of staff costs was £2.4 million. Following Royal Assent, Corporate Affairs staff are mostly employed in community relations or helpline roles, dealing with communities affected by the works and running the visitor information centres. This new activity is necessary now that Crossrail construction has begun. The media team responds to press enquiries and publishes information to coincide with project milestones. The Corporate Affairs budget for 2010/11 covering community relations, media and public relations is £3.63 million inclusive of staff costs.
