In answer to Question No: 277 / 2010 in January 2010, regarding the installation of a pedestrian phase at the Greenwich South St and Lewisham Road Junction (A2) junction, you stated that "TfL is...reviewing the proposal to see whether any case can be made for progressing the scheme. More data is required and TfL anticipate their review will take approximately three more months to complete". Was this study ever completed and, if so, what were the conclusions drawn by TfL?

Work has progressed but modelling has indicated that the options looked at would have a significant adverse impact on traffic in the local area. TfL is currently assessing all the evidence, including collision data, to inform a decision as to whether the case for the pedestrian facilities outweigh the negative traffic impact, enabling the scheme to progress. TfL expects to have a clear decision regarding whether the provision of a pedestrian stage as part of the signal control is viable in about a month.
