Now that The Planning Inspector has reported on July 22nd 2010 to The Secretary of State that he is satisfied with the LDA Planning Application which was previously approved by London Borough of Bromley in December 2008 what steps is The Mayor prepared to undertake by supporting and influencing the implementation of key works such as:

(a). Repair and re-opening the historic Subway and its Access by the Summer of 2012

(b) Restoration and repair of the historic Terraces and Statues by 2014

(c) Building a new Crystal Palace Museum on the Top site to house and display the considerable artefacts and memorabilia which exist in different locations and using the latest technology to enhance that experience for the public and schools within the next three years

(d) Creating an Interpretation centre with respect to the famous dinosaurs found in the Lake area near to the Penge Gate by 2013.

In his letter of 21 July 2010, the Secretary of State (SoS) shared the view of the Planning Inspector that the planning application was acceptable and he is minded to approve the Crystal Palace Park Masterplan subject to amendments to the planning conditions and Section 106 Agreement. This process is still ongoing and at present there is no planning permission in place to deliver the Park improvements. The LDA has received legal advice and prepared revised draft planning obligations, which the SoS is currently considering.

Until the masterplan planning application is formally approved, I am unable to comment on the implementation of individual elements of the masterplan, which will also be dependent upon the availability of external funding streams.

As set out in the Section 106 Agreement between the London Borough of Bromley and LDA dated 7 September 2009, the LDA's role going forward will be as Masterplan Co-ordinator supporting Bromley in promoting and delivering the Masterplan.
