Question

Concerns about inadequate transport links continue among local residents who despite many efforts remain dissatisfied with the performance of the 343 bus through the Southampton Way area. A suggestion has been made for a diversion of route 171 to be made through this part of the 343 route. Could this be given consideration?

TfL has considered this and found it would disrupt the journey of some 1,500 passengers a day. The diversion would also reduce the frequency of buses on the stretch of Peckham Road (west of the Southampton Way junction) and Camberwell Road (south of Albany Road junction), leading to increased waiting times for some 4,000 passengers a day.

TfL is proposing to provide extra peak-time capacity on route 343 in addition to measures to improve its performance from 12 June 2010.
