Answer for Safer neighbourhood teams

Currently there are 632 Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNTs) of which 601 are staffed by substantive Police Sergeants and the balance, 31, is staffed by Acting Police Sergeants. For Police Constables, the target strength is 1264 and currently the MPS have 178 constables in excess of this number. For PCSOs, the target strength is 2158 and the MPS have deployed 191 PCSOs in excess of this figure.

The expectation is that all SNTs will be fully staffed. Vacancies may arise due to staff changes e.g. promotion, transfers etc. Boroughs then take steps to replace SNT staff at the earliest opportunity.

The figures demonstrate that the MPS have overall staffing levels over and above the minimum numbers for the 1-2-3 Safer Neighbourhood model.
