I realise that NO2 pollution remains a significant problem in London, as in dozens of cities across the UK and on the continent. Concentrations monitored in particular busy roadside and kerbside locations in inner London continue to exceed the NO2 hourly objectives and in some locations the limit value is exceeded by a factor of two or more. This is why my Air Quality Strategy includes a number of wide ranging policies that will address NO2 emissions in London. Given the nationwide scale of the problem, I have been extremely clear with government that this issue in particular will require substantial new policies and funding from government, over and above what we are proposing for London.
