Question

Since many of the hotels for officials, the media and the IOC are located very close to the upgraded Central Line or to the javelin train from Kings Cross to Stratford, why do these people need exclusive Olympic lanes on London's roads?

The Javelin service and London Underground Network should not be seen or used as alternatives to the Olympic Route Network - the Javelin and Underground services will transport thousands of spectators to the Olympic Park every day whilst the latter will transport athletes, media and other officials quickly and reliably between accommodation centres and the Olympic Venues. However, it is my view that members of the Olympic Family should use London's fantastic public transport system wherever this is possible and practical, and following correspondence I have had with Jacques Rogge we are in discussions with LOCOG and the IOC about facilitating this.
