I have not made any "hidden interventions" in the proposal to build a prison at Beam Park West. The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) have indicated that it wishes to locate a prison on this specific site and the LDA has been working closely with them and the relevant local authorities in order to develop a proposal that maximises the benefits for the local community and supports the regeneration potential of the wider area.

The MoJ's aspirations to build a prison in the wider Beam Reach area has been in the public domain since 2007 and as I have stated previously, I am in full agreement with Assembly Members that there should be extensive local consultation on the prison proposal through the planning process as details around the specific Beam Park West proposal develop further.
