Crossrail views the safety of all road users, including cyclists as a priority. Crossrail has given a parliamentary commitment (no. 577) to provide lorry drivers with training to ensure that they are aware of sharing the roads with cyclists. Crossrail supports the draft recommendations in the Mayor's Cycling Safety Action Plan and is engaging cycling groups, the Police and other stakeholders to develop its strategy which promotes the safety of vulnerable road users during the construction of the railway. This will include driver training and vehicle standards such as mirrors. Relevant requirements from the strategy will be part of Crossrail contracts.
