We are pleased that you have finally admitted that you were wrong to oppose the minimum wage in the past and have been converted to its benefit and also that of the London Living Wage (1953 / 2009). In your December 2008 ERAP update you claim that you are 'working with other partners to encourage its wider take-up'. What 'other partners' have you liaised with on this matter and when?

Answer for Partners

Answer for Partners

I have engaged with a raft of organisations on the London Living Wage to raise awareness of the benefits that paying a fair wage can bring.

For example, I have personally discussed the Living Wage with London Citizens, SERTUC and the British Hospitality Association. My officers continue to engage with these and other partners to ensure a wider take up of the London Living Wage across London, and in particular to encourage implementation by London's Boroughs.

My officers are in also in regular discussions with the Fair Pay Network and the other interested local authorities across the UK - notably Glasgow City Council who implemented a city wage earlier this year.
