Question

In response to the petition that I presented at Mayor's Question Time on the 17 June 2009 urging the provision of a pedestrian crossing at the junction of Courthill Road and Lewisham High Street you stated in a letter (your ref: MGLA180609 - 2411) that TfL is "continuing further detailed investigation to identify whether there are more complex or radical alterations that can be made to improve the operation of the junction". Following this pledge and in view of the strong support for a safer junction, especially following the serious pedestrian accident at this junction on Tuesday 28 April, will you clarify when TfL will complete these further investigations into steps that could possibly be taken to improve the safety of this junction?

TfL's further review, as described in my correspondence to you, is seeking solutions to a complex issue and may therefore prove to be more time consuming than earlier work. It is hoped that this review will give a clearer picture of what is achievable by Spring 2010.
