Question

I understand that London Overground, unlike London Underground, is not operating any trains on Boxing Day - 26th December 2008. Will the Mayor ensure that London Overground operate trains on 26th December in future years?

We are not operating any services on the London Overground network on Boxing Day 2008. London Overground services run on infrastructure owned and managed by Network Rail who take advantage of quieter periods such as Christmas to carry out essential engineering works. Parts of the network will be resignalled in the period 2009-2011 and until that work is carried out, running trains on Boxing Day is not a viable option. We are however reviewing the possibility of running Boxing Day services after that time.
