Red routes have strategic importance to London since they represent only 5% of London's roads but carry around a third of London's traffic. I have spoken to many people across London about red routes and bus lanes and what they want is consistency and clarity. I would be reluctant to go down any route that led to greater arrangements across London. I therefore consider that TfL has an important role in ensuring that traffic on these routes operates as efficiently as possible.
