Mr Mayor, the question started out as being about Road Safety Week. Can I ask you if you could use your good offices with Transport for London to improve road safety by having them remove a lot of the street clutter that they leave around when they have done works; it often remains around for weeks. Also, to remove some of the unnecessary street signage and the things which actually obstruct the sight lines of pedestrians and motorists too?

Boris Johnson (Mayor of London): Dick, I absolutely agree with you. Very often it will be the elderly and the disabled, who are particularly impeded by this road clutter. I think we actually had a GLA-wide initiative against unnecessary road works and there are those ludicrous posts with absolutely nothing on them that seem to have sprouted all over London roads stopping people enjoying the experience of walking then I think we would have more walkers.
