Question

On 17 October the Healthcare Commission reported that 'For the first time, our assessment now shows a gap between London and the rest of the country'. Does the Mayor agree that until the Government decides to fix this greater inequality the inequalities within the city cannot be properly addressed?

Government needs to continue to ensure its programmes consider and address the inequalities that exist both between regions and within them. I will continue to make the case for London in my dealings with them, as well as ensuring my Health Inequalities Strategy and related GLA programmes make a significant contribution to addressing the inequalities within our city.
