Question

Will the Mayor work with TfL and the boroughs to seek a complete ban on pedicabs, which make London appear like a third world city and which are dangerous with the drivers often in the country illegally and uninsured?

I do not at present have any powers over pedicabs, nor am I seeking a complete ban. I can however confirm that TfL's Public Carriage Office is working with Westminster City Council to explore potential licensing or voluntary registration regimes. TfL is also awaiting a declaration from the Courts to clarify whether pedicabs should be classified as hackney carriages, and thereby come within the Public Carriage Offices regulatory powers.
