The Borough Operational Command Unit (BOCU) and other units Metropolitan Police Service Special Constables strength at 30 September 2008, including officers currently in initial training is:

Borough Special Constable Number Kensington & Chelsea 147 Westminster 265 Camden 143 Hammersmith & Fulham 70 Hackney 43 Tower Hamlets 50 Waltham Forest 42 Redbridge 101 Havering 77 Newham 67 Barking & Dagenham 39 Lambeth 59 Southwark 49 Islington 75 Lewisham 48 Bromley 80 Harrow 94 Brent 28 Greenwich 64 Bexley 86 Barnet 116 Richmond upon Thames 41 Hounslow 43 Kingston upon Thames 53 Merton 33 Wandsworth 86 Ealing 79 Hillingdon 64 Enfield 74 Haringey 54 Croydon 64 Sutton 31 Borough Total 2,365

Royal Parks OCU 21 Aviation Security (CO18) 16 Economic Crime Unit (SCD6) 15 Traffic OCU (CO15) 10 Marine Support (CO11) 11 TP Operational Support Unit 80 TPHQ 23 Metropolitan Police Service Special Constable Total 2,541

There is no target set for individual Borough or unit strengths for the current year. This is because there is an element of self-selection by the volunteer. Most Metropolitan Police Service Special Constable officers volunteer in the BOCU in which they work or live. Over the next four years, as growth continues towards the target of 10,000 MSC officers there will be a greater emphasis on local recruitment activity by BOCUs and units.

The target for the Metropolitan Police Service Special Constables for 30/3/09 is a strength of 2,850.
