Question

Residents of the boroughs of Brent, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster have long been campaigning for a phase and signing crossing at the junction of Harrow Road with Chamberlayne Road and Ladbroke Grove. Westminster Council is the lead authority on this. Will the Mayor pressure Westminster to carry out this work, or must we wait for a preventable accident?

Answer

Each year, the London boroughs submit requests for funding to TfL through the Local Implementation Process (LIP) process. TfL's London Road Safety Unit can provide funding for schemes submitted as either a Local Safety Scheme or a 20mph zone. TfL has received no request from Westminster Council through the LIP process for road safety funding at this location. TfL would be happy to consider a request for funding, from Westminster but cannot pressure the authority to submit a bid.
