Question

Will the Mayor join me in a) congratulating the organisers of the fifth annual Not Another Drop march against gun and knife crime in Brent? b) welcoming the major and longstanding efforts against violent crime in Brent c) commending all the work of this longstanding community partnership since the start of the march in 2004?

Or would the Mayor agree with my predecessor and leader of Brent Conservatives, who did not attend, that this event was 'not dramatically important'?

I welcome the wide range of work by agencies and communities to oppose gun and knife crime across London. I was recently in Brent to open the Gangs, Guns and Weapons Practitioners Forum annual seminar. I outlined then my support for the strong partnership work taking place between statutory agencies and communities. My youth violence prevention strategic framework will be launched next month and will outline further work that can be undertaken across London to tackle violent crime.
