There was a meeting of the River Passenger Services Concordat Working Group chaired by Kulveer Ranger on 24 July which was attended by stakeholders including local boroughs, pier owners and boat operators. A draft Pier Plan for the Thames was presented and attendees have now provided useful feedback which will enable the Pier Plan to be finalised. The Pier Plan will provide a framework with which local boroughs and TfL will be able to engage with developers and other potential sources of funding to enable new or expanded piers to be built. The Thames Clippers Monday to Friday peak hours service between the London Eye and Woolwich received £439,891 financial support from TfL in the year ending 17 August 2008, less deductions for journeys not operated. The Thames Clippers contract for peak hours service was awarded following a competitive tendering process. Thames Clippers off-peak and other services operate commercially without financial support from TfL.
