Answer for London Youth Offer

Answered By:
The Mayor

On 5 December 2007, I announced, with the Minister for Children, Young People and Families, Beverley Hughes MP, a £79 million funding package for young Londoners and set out how this investment will benefit each of London's 33 local authorities. This saw an extra £19 million being given from Department for Children, Schools and Families to the London Youth Offer alongside the £20 million investment by the LDA. All Boroughs were informed in December about their individual allocations for the 2-year period starting on 1 April. A detailed paper, which is on my website, sets out the objectives and criteria of my Youth Offer and provides guidance to local authorities. The LDA's requirements for funding were also explained at workshops held for all 33 Boroughs last month. We have also held briefing sessions with Third Sector and community networks. A list of the Borough contacts for the youth offer is available on GLA and LDA websites. I will be making a further announcement shortly about my London Youth Offer, which will provide further opportunities for London organisations working with young people to bid for funding.
