The layout of this bus lane has not changed since it was introduced in 1997. However, TfL is aware that residents living nearby are concerned about the side road `setbacks' at this location. These are provided on the approaches to junctions to allow motorists to make turning manoeuvres.

The section of bus lane within this area of setbacks is clearly marked with broken white lines. The Highway Code makes clear to motorists that they may drive over these broken white lines to access side roads if they wish to do so. For this reason TfL believes that the bus lane is adequately marked.

Nevertheless, TfL intends to observe driver behaviour at this location to determine whether any additional signing would be beneficial, or if any other traffic management measures should be introduced. TfL will write to you with their findings when they are available.
