Question

A constituent has written to me pointing out the dearth of public transport option covering the QE2 Bridge. Given that the busiest junctions for the QE2/Dartford crossing circle Brentwood and Havering and given that this represents an opportunity to divert traffic away from Central London, would the Mayor consider increasing the number of bus routes across the bridge?

The QE2 Bridge links Kent and Thurrock, outside Greater London. TfL is responsible for planning bus services for travel to, from and within Greater London. TfL route 372 provides links between London and Thurrock, and routes 96, 428 and 492 give links to and from Kent. TfL do not believe there is case for it to provide a service over the bridge

A commercial service route X80 runs over the bridge, linking Bluewater with Lakeside and Grays. Connections between this route and the TfL services mentioned above are available at various locations.

TfL will of course continue to work closely with the local authorities involved so that overall there are good public transport links to and from the area.
