Evidence from around the world shows that the ban will save many Londoners lives. I have not seen the specific comment to which your question refers, but it is depressing to hear that the Leader of Westminster City Council and current Chair of the LGA is actively undermining the smoking ban in the press. Interestingly Westminster Council itself has been more proactive than most in preparing local businesses for the new legislation on smoking in public places. Their website currently includes prominently displayed information about all aspects of the smoking legislation, including details of where to get support and assistance, and what their approach to enforcement will entail. Is this an example of Simon Milton saying one thing but his staff fortunately doing another?
