Mr Mayor, will you accept it is not just a Zone 1 issue? Indeed I now have a considerable number of complaints around West Finchley Tube Station on the Northern Line, where this new level of announcement is causing far more inconvenience. These are people who have lived around the tube station for 20 and 30 years. This very morning the announcement we needed was why was the train delayed, not please keep standing back from the platform. We would stand back if there were any trains to stand back from! Also, this very morning at Tottenham Court Road Tube Station there was a loop announcement playing the entire time that if you wanted step free exit from the station use such and such an exit. That was playing on the loop the entire time. I do not know whether the tape was stuck.

The question is, will you look at all the above surface tube stations, not just the Zone 1 tube stations, important as they are?

We want to review the whole policy. Nobody is telling me that their experience is contrary to this. Therefore we clearly need to rebalance this to either quieter or less frequent or both, in terms of messages. I loathe it. I loathe anything that intervenes to stop me reading my paper or book in peace.
