Coulsdon Town Centre is one of my 100 Public Spaces Projects. The building of the relief road and resulting reduction in traffic has presented a unique opportunity to create an improved pedestrian environment. My officers from Design for London and Transport for London are working with Croydon Council to develop proposals to revitalise the town centre. Consultation was carried out last summer and a report on revised plans will be provided to local people in June. Implementation of the plans is scheduled to start next year.I appreciate the need for progress, but equally we must spend the time to consult properly and reach the best solution.
