Question

Free guns with every plastic bag recycled - that is not what I have in mind! Can I ask you how much money you are prepared to put behind it, because obviously the commitment in the Food Strategy - Jenny [Jones] I see has had to leave us - was to establish a pilot sustainable healthy reward card scheme in London, and that I think had a budget attached to it? So what sort of feasibility budgets are you looking at?

I would not have a clue until you and this group come to me and say, `This is what we think it will cost, this is what we think the benefit is we get out of it'. I am certainly not ruling out spending a considerable sum of money on it. Effectively we have virtually universal coverage of the Oyster Card across Londoners. With the extension to the overland trains over the next two years, that will become even more pervasive. Using it to encourage green behaviour, perhaps adapting it so that as you are buying something that is environmentally sustainable, like proper light bulbs and so on, ratchets up points which perhaps reduce your annual season ticket or something like that.
