Do you share my concerns that significant progress that has been made in combating the illegal trafficking, selling, and possession of endangered species will be undermined if the Metropolitan Police's wildlife crime unit has to endure cuts or closure because of a lack of public funding?

I share your concerns and am well aware of both the scale of the endangered species trade in London and of the valuable work of the Wildlife Crime Unit in combating it. There is no doubt the Unit's work will be affected if cuts were imposed, and that is why I am actively investigating options to safeguard its future, including looking at alternative sources of funding.
