The MPS has informed me that since January 2006 a total of 542 tachograph cases have been received within the Traffic Serious Casework Unit. These cases have resulted in 1,639 tachograph offences being prosecuted at court. It should be noted that when the above tachograph offences are added to other offences reported at the same time, for example, Operator's Licence, dangerous loads, no insurance, dangerous condition & driving licence offences, the total offences prosecuted increases from 1,639 to 2,894.) These prosecutions have resulted in excess of £120K worth of fines being imposed and have resulted in excess of £20K of costs being awarded.
