The MPS expects local Crime Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRP) to determine local strategies for addressing issues of crime and disorder in their area. Southwark Police work in partnership with the Local Authority CCTV unit based within Southwark Police station.

There are 124 CCTV cameras spread across the Borough of which 12 are primarily used for parking enforcement. The majority is used for crime enforcement activities. Protocols are in place to enable the movement of the cameras at the request of police or when a CCTV operative suspects criminal activity.

The use of CCTV has proved to be an effective tool in the policing of Southwark.
