One final question; would you agree with me that the arguments that have been put by those who would have a third runway that somehow Heathrow will reach tipping point and go backwards, and that the economy of West London will be massively damaged as a result, that that is rather overstating the case?

This is what led me to change. My position, when I became Mayor, was that, if it was true that London's economy required increasing airport capacity, that had to be done. Now we have gone through all those arguments. None of it stands up. British Airports Authority, I say to their face, I do not trust anything they tell me.
