Question

Does the Mayor agree with the proposed introduction of parking permits for motorbikes by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea?  Would this not make it more likely that people who might reduce congestion by opting to switch from cars to motorbikes will now continue to use their cars?

Residents parking permit schemes for motorcycles have been in place in RB Kensington & Chelsea for over 5 years, so the concept is not new. The borough is proposing an increase in the overall number of spaces available to powered two wheelers, and this policy should be welcomed. The residents' bays will also benefit from added security measures. I welcome these improvements but I don not feel the burden should fall on motorcyclists.I understand that there is also an increase in the price for parking. I also understand that visitor access to free motorcycle parking bays is unaffected by this proposal.
