Operational flexibility is a new initiative within London underground that will seek to modify the infrastructure to achieve improved operational flexibility of the service with two key objectives: (1) reduce recovery time to the service following incidents and (2) return trains to key locations more rapidly. This is a network wide initiative. Subject to completion of detailed feasibility and design to demonstrate the business case, it will deliver things like new cross-over points, section switch improvements and variable dwell time indicators.
