In 2006, there were 1,363 articulated bus accidents reported to TfL and 17,268 reported accidents in which non-articulated buses were in collision with other motor vehicles. In 2005, there were 643 reported accidents in which articulated buses and 18,295 accidents in which non-articulated buses were in collision with other motor vehicles. However, in 2005 there were fewer articulated buses in operation. It should be noted that the data provided by operators represents all routes in the London Buses network and therefore does not provide a like-for-like comparison for busier inner and central London corridors where articulated buses predominate.A study is being undertaken to compare similar double-deck routes with articulated vehicles for benchmark purposes
