You stated on 17th May 2006 that you had instructed Tim O'Toole some months earlier to look at all landholdings at TfL to see if you could free up space so that Safer neighbourhood teams could be based in them. Can you outline how many teams (if any) have been based within underground or mainline stations a) in the period up to 17th May 2006 and b) since 17th May 2006?

Further to my answer to question 226/2006, TfL has been in a series of detailed discussions with the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) and a number of potential sites have been investigated. Some were found to meet the MPS specification for accommodation of Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNT). TfL will continue working with the MPS on this issue. A number of transport related sites have been identified as possible locations for Safer Transport Teams (STT).Currently there are no teams based within underground or mainline stations. However, I am pleased to confirm that TfL accommodation adjacent to Turnpike Lane tube station is being fitted out to accommodate the local SNT.
