The conference had a broad approach and the seminars encompassed a range of themes from multi-culturalism, the role of the media to enlightenment values. I do not share the view that there is an Islamic threat and this was a topic for debate at the conference. I am increasingly concerned at how Muslim communities in the UK are being vilified and marginalized by the media and sections of government. The overwhelmingly majority are opposed to terrorism of all forms and their co-operation is essential to identify and defeat terrorists and their supporters.
