Between 10 to 12 tonnes of newspapers are collected from London Underground (LU) stations and trains each weekday. Information on the amount of newspapers deposited on buses in London each day is not available. Waste and newspapers are collected by the operators in each bus garage and this information is not collated centrally.Bus operators are contracted to clean buses, and they make their own local arrangements for the disposal of rubbish. TfL is therefore unable to estimate the tonnage and/or volume of newspapers deposited on buses.
