Neighbourhood panels themselves do not undertake such analysis. Identification of local concerns through community engagement and analysis is the responsibility of Safer Neighbourhoods teams along with Safer Neighbourhoods analysts and researchers. Neighbourhood panels can, and do, assist in this process but their primary function is one of assessing this information and using their own knowledge of the community to ensure that key community issues are set as priorities for the Safer Neighbourhoods team and partners to tackle.
