Answer for Irish and Women in London's Economy conferences

Answered By:
The Mayor

The Irish conference on 31 March 2007 will discuss issues of importance to the London`s Irish community including the contribution of the community to London. There is no expenditure incurred to date but a budget of £10,000 has been allocated to the project. The Women in London's Economy conference on 8 February 2007 will see the launch of new, updated research on the position of women in London's economy. It will provide an opportunity to highlight the contribution that women make to London's economy, the challenges they face, and discuss research findings with leading London employers and business women from across the capital to inform policy work. The conference forms part of a wider programme of work including research and other events, and it is not possible to completely separate that part of the programme budget ascribable to the conference and other elements. However, the expenses of organising and holding the conference are likely to be in the region of £50,000, some or all of which may be covered by sponsorship (including £4,700 in sponsorship from Transport for London) or grant funding from the London Development Agency as set out in Mayoral Approval Form MA2764.
