The forecast additional costs of Operations Overt/Overamp as of November 2006 are £20.6m. In due course final figures will be available.Currently there are 15 people awaiting trial arising from the Operation Overt arrests, including charges of conspiracy to murder. As this is issue is currently the subject of criminal proceedings it would not be appropriate for me to make further comment at this stage.Such investigations are however subject to oversight prior to taking executive action and are subject to a thorough debriefing process to improve effectiveness where possible. I am sure the MPA/MPS would be happy to inform you of the results of the debrief process at the appropriate time.
