This work was undertaken as a result of the disproportionate number of black child pedestrians injured in road traffic collisions in London. Injury rates to this group were more than 2.5 times that of white and Asian children. With regards to the report, there are a number of outstanding queries to be resolved, and when these have been adequately addressed the report will be formally published. However, the report does confirm the two main factors to be ethnicity and the level of deprivation in the area where victims live. I have therefore asked TfL to work with boroughs, community groups and selected media, such as The Voice to urgently address this serious problem.
