Question

Are there any plans to ease the congestion for buses and other traffic crossing Vauxhall Bridge? Are you concerned that traffic on this bridge will get worse as a result of the decision to have a 'free lane' running through the extended congestion charge area?

The volume of traffic on the free through route is not expected to change significantly following the introduction of the western extension of the Central London Congestion Charging zone. TfL does not anticipate that conditions for buses and other traffic crossing Vauxhall Bridge should be adversely affected and as such there currently are no plans to introduce specific traffic management schemes at this location. However, the situation will be closely monitored and TfL will keep traffic management arrangements under review to ensure the most efficient and safe movement of vehicular traffic and other road users.
