Question

Is there money in the TfL business plan for taking forward the idea of the Silvertown road river crossing, which will enable large, high-sided lorries to cross the Thames near to the Blackwall Tunnel? Do you still require Greenwich and Tower Hamlets local authorities to safeguard the proposed route for this road crossing?

The Silvertown Crossing has been included indicatively in the period 2017-2022 in the draft Further Alterations to the London Plan. Boroughs' planning policy frameworks must generally conform to proposals in the Plan. TfL will be able to look at the technical and planning issues in developing the Link once the Secretaries of State have made their decision on the Thames Gateway Bridge and in the light of the SR2007 funding settlement.
