It is my view that all school leadership programmes and qualifications, including the National Professional Qualification for Headship and the Early Headship Programme (formerly the Headteachers Induction Programme) should have mandatory elements on recruiting black and minority ethnic teachers and leading diverse workforces to enable them to have a better understanding of the issues surrounding teaching diverse pupil populations. This is not the case at present.
