I wrote to Councillor Paul Lorber, Leader of LB Brent on 7th September 2006 following his letter to me of 10 august asking to advise on the level of funding we might be able to provide. My letter is below. However, I understand that on 9th October, the Executive Committee of LB Brent agreed to put the site on the open market for a period of 3 months rather than commit any further funding themselves.Dear PaulDOLLIS HILL HOUSEThank you for your letter of 10 August. As I have made clear to the Dollis Hill Trust I continue to support the renovation of Dollis Hill House for community and other purposes provided that a viable business plan and future for the House can be established. You say in your letter that there is currently no viable Business Plan in place. I agree that ensuring a robust plan is in place is an essential first step and the Trust has told me that they are working to prepare one. As I have made clear I am willing to seek to provide a contribution of up to half the capital costs of the renovation provided this is matched by the Council. However, providing on-going revenue support for a local facility is not within the GLA's remit or powers apart from project based funding and, as part of any future business planning, it would be necessary for the Council to consider what contribution it would commit to the revenue funding required to secure a viable future for the House.I hope the Council will be able to response to this proposal rapidly to allow necessary planning work to be completed as soon as possible.
